Having central round old European cut diamond (approx. 8mm x 8mm x 4.5mm) followed by another old European cut diamond (approx. 3.5mm), held within a pear shaped platinum mount encrusted with graduated set of diamonds. Met by two bezel set diamonds and surmounted by larger round old European cut diamond (approx. 5.2mm x 5.2mm x 3.5mm), connected by trombone link platinum chain.

LOT 52: AFTER THE ORIGINAL BY HYLLUS, SON OF DIOSCURIDES, ‘DIONYSIAN BULL’, A 19TH CENTURY CARVED GLASS INTAGLIO YELLOW METAL RING (YELLOW METAL TESTED AS 14CT GOLD)
Slight domed oval glass intaglio insert (approx. 29mm x 21.5mm), depicting a Dionysian bull, his body girded with a garland of ivy, walking with head bowed. thyrsus formed ground line, set in a stepped back mount, open back with large stylised open work shoulders.

Petel traveled extensively through Italy, France, and the Low Countries, where he’s work was heavily deeply influenced by the stylistic innovations of Giambologna. And his friends Peter Paul Rubens.and Anthony van Dyck ,Petel even created a famous bust of Rubens in 1633. van Dyck painted a portrait of Georg Petel around 1628.

LOT 164: ATTRIBUTED TO JUSTE-AURÈLE MEISSONNIER, CIRCA 1740, A FINE PAIR OF 18TH CENTURY LOUIS XV ORMOLU TWO BRANCH CANDELABRA
Decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves raised on scrolling base, removable candle arms allowing conversion into candlesticks.

N.B. A similar model to the present pair can be found in a set of four candelabra, currently in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Art, which it is attributed to Meissonnier.
A pair of candlesticks of the same design sold Sotheby London July 5 2025 lot 20 £22,860.

With cherubs seated on a rocky base, one blowing a conch, shell the one holding his hands aloft issuing three acanthus branches with fluted vase shaped nozzles decorated with stiff leaves, raised on a stepped base with fluted guilloché and leaf decoration, later drilled.

LOT 184: ATTRIBUTED TO FERDINANDO POGLIANI, 1832 - 1899, A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE 19TH CENTURY ITALIAN RENAISSANCE BREAKFRONT EBONISED AND IVORY INLAID ARMOIRE/ WARDROBE
The broken pediment above a large single mirrored door flanked by a pair of panelled doors decorated with classic maiden above three drawers, raised on a plinth base, the Inlaid decoration overall with scrolling foliage facial masks and mythical beast and birds.

N.B. Ferdinando Pogliani (active 1860's and 1870's) worked with his sons Paolo and Carlo in his workshop in Borgo di Porta, Vittoria N.81, Milan. He later had a showroom in the elegant Via Monte Napoleone and won prizes in several leading Exhibitions becoming one of the cities leading cabinetmakers

This drawing follows the design of Raphael's 'Madonna della Tenda
(or Madonna of the Curtain) a work of 1514 in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (see J. Meyer zur Capellen, Raphael A Critical Catalogue of His Paintings The Roman Religious Paintings Ca 1508-1520, Münster, 2005, vol. II, p. 135, cat. no. 56). The composition is also reminiscent of Raphael's 'Madonna della Sedia dating from around the same time in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence.
