LOT 274: A 19TH CENTURY R.N.L.I. LIFEBOAT PRESENTATION MODEL ‘THOMAS SIMCOX’ FOR THE DUNGENESS LIFEBOAT STATION, 1892
Dungeness No2 Life-Boat having carved and painted hull with grab ropes, RNLI logo to bow and rudder, including slatted bench side-seats, footplates, thwarts, brass scuppers, blue and white painted oars, folded mast and boom with furled sail and other fixtures, mounted on turned brass columns on a mahogany wooden display base with inscribed presentation plate, reading: ‘Model of the “Thomas Simcox”, lifeboat. Stationed at Dungeness, under the management of the Royal National Life Boat Institution. Presented by the Institution to Mrs Simcox, 1892’, housed in original glazed case.
